According to the news agency EFE, Donald Trump signed an executive order to withdraw the United States from 66 international organizations following a review of their alignment with national interests.

The order instructs executive departments and federal agencies to end U.S. participation in the organizations identified by the White House.

The document also establishes the termination of US funding to these international organizations.

The decision was presented as the result of an evaluation focused on national sovereignty, security, and the country’s economic priorities.

Scope of Trump Executive Order to Withdraw from International Organizations

The presidential order directs the United States to withdraw from 35 international organizations not linked to the United Nations system.

These entities were identified following a review initiated by the Trump administration.

The executive order also includes the withdrawal of the United States from 31 entities that are part of the United Nations system.

These include agencies related to climate change, population issues, and human settlements.

The official document argues that these institutions operate in ways that run counter to US national interests.

The White House claimed that the entities promote globalist agendas not aligned with Washington.

The White House said the withdrawals would end the use of US taxpayer funds to support these organizations.

According to the administration, those resources can instead be allocated to policies that strengthen national independence.

The move is part of a broader strategy to disengage from multilateral institutions.

During his presidency, Trump had already pushed for withdrawals from bodies such as the World Health Organization, the UN Human Rights Council, and the Paris Agreement.

Impact on Relations With Multilateral Organizations

The announced withdrawal consolidates a growing distance between the United States and multilateral structures that have played a central role in global governance for decades.

The decision redefines US participation in global forums and limits its institutional presence in organizations tied to cooperation, development, and international policymaking.

According to the White House, the approach prioritizes national sovereignty and the reallocation of resources toward internal objectives set by the administration.

The announcement marks a significant shift in US relations with the international system and reinforces the foreign policy strategy promoted by Trump, underscoring how Trump withdraws from international organizations as a defining element of his agenda.
